Black Forest(TM) Canid Formula
A highly useful formula for clearing up dermatologic and other conditions caused by adverse food reactions or the buildup of toxins, or for those that wish to add their own protein sources, such as lamb, beef, chicken, turkey, eggs, salmon, yogurt etc, This formula may also be used for the feeding of animals that require a low protein or low fat diet because of disease and may be used in the management of canine obesity. Black Forest Canid Formula(TM) is fully balanced and meets the requirements of all life stages, but we do encourage the adding of meats such as muscle meats, organ meats, sweetbreads (thymus, pancreas), eggs etc. It has high levels of linolenic acid, or omega 3 essential fatty acids, from our wild salmon oil including EPA and DHA. In fact, it has the highest ratio of omega 3 to omega 6 fatty acids (1/1.5) that we know of and has 1.25% omega 3 essential fatty acids by weight. We have developed a new proprietary blend of herbal extracts and higher levels of mixed tocopherols and vitamin E to be able to preserve the high levels omega 3s. Research suggests that a high ratio of omega 3 to omega 6 essential fatty acids (greater than 1 to 6 omega 3 to omega 6) may lower the incidence of cancer and may even help animals with cancer live longer than they would otherwise. EPA benefits the heart and circulatory system by promoting healthy blood triglycerides and blood flow. EPA, along with glucosomine, also plays a role in the natural body movement of joints and can be beneficial to joint pain and inflammation. Nutrient Dense Lamb, Barley and Apples(TM) Canid Formula
A lamb and barley based formula for use in nutritional management of adverse food reactions in canines. This formula is the only lamb based formula we know of that has such a high level of lamb based protein and contains no poultry, beef or by - product meals; nor soy, wheat or Corn. Designed to satisfy the urgent nutritional requirements of stressed, growing, convalescing or older canines where a concentrated source of nutrition is required. Wild & Natural Dry(TM) Canid Formula
A new formulation that actually simulates the natural diet of a wild canid in protein, fats, seeds & other nutrients but in a dry form and is designed for Guard, Military, Police and other Service Dogs, Wolves, Wolf Hybrids, Northern Dogs, kennels, show breeders and other dog enthusiasts who have a need for high levels of nutrients. Serengeti Herbal Felid Diet is a unique felid diet that makes use of fresh ingredients and actually simulates a natural diet of a wild cat but in a dry form. This diet contains high levels of amino acids and a proper balance of omega 3 and 6 essential fatty acids and promotes low urinary pH. Pure chicken fat is used for its' high levels of linoleic acid (omega - 6 essential fatty acids). It also has a special blend of fiber that assists in the removal of hair balls. When fed as instructed it will satisfy the urgent nutritional requirements of adult, growing, stressed and older felids where a concentrated source of nutrition is required. It is a meat based formula that has over 8 lbs of chicken and fish meal for every 16.5 lbs of food. The high levels of amino acids provide the building blocks necessary for thick vibrant fur, a strong immune system and excellent muscle tone. Melanin, a protein that provides pigmentation, is built from amino acids consumed in the diet. Serengeti Felid Diet contains high levels of highly digestible ingredients and concentrated sources of nutrients essential for growth. Your felid's nutritional requirements will vary according to age, breed, climate, stress and activity levels. When switching to Timberwolf Organics' pet foods gradually increase the amount fed while decreasing the previous food over a 5 - 14 day period. It is prudent to switch any new food gradually but because Timberwolf Organics' pet foods are unique your pet may need more time to increase the bacteria necessary to completely digest some of the ingredients. We have included direct fed microbials or "probiotics" to assist in the development of beneficial colonies. Over feeding can also cause digestive upset and should be adjusted accordingly. You will find that you will feed as little as half of what you were previously feeding. Please do not overfeed!
Timberwolf Organics's pet foods are formulated to meet AAFCO nutrient profiles for all life stages and have met animal feeding tests using AAFCO procedures to substantiate that they provide complete and balanced nutrition for all life stages.
Exotics should be fed the Optimum Felid Diet and supplemented with the Wild Salmon Oil and fresh meat, organs, sweetbreads and tripe for best results. We do not recommend the feeding of chicken or turkey necks or backs unless included in the proper ratio as a part of the "whole animal".

Wild Salmon Oil
Our pure Wild Salmon Oil comes from wild salmon caught in the cold deep waters of the North Atlantic off the coasts of Iceland and Greenland. It is pharmaceutical grade and is a clear red/orange color with a pleasant smell. Today, all quality fish oils sold for human consumption go through the molecular distillation process to assure purity by removing environmental toxins, including HEAVY METALS, PCBs, KETONES etc. Holistic-orientated physicians only recommend fish oil which has been purified by this process. The fish oil remains all natural with the same health benefits, but without the environmental pollutants. Salmon oil is high in EPA (eicosopentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) omega - 3 essential fatty acids. EPA has natural anti-inflammatory properties while DHA serves as the primary structural lipid of the brain and retina of the eye. These membrane-rich tissues require large amounts of DHA, and scientific studies indicate that this nutrient has a positive impact on mental as well as visual functions. Low levels of DHA are linked to insufficient brain and vision development in infants, Alzheimer's disease, Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, Schizophrenia, and Depression. According to one study, North American and European populations exhibited cumulative rates of depression ten times that of Taiwanese population that consumed a diet much richer in fresh fish. Omega-3 fatty acids are important to every cell in your body and must be obtained from the diet for good health. Our cells utilize Omega-3s to form the outer cell structure. Research suggests that a high ratio of omega 3 to omega 6 essential fatty acids (greater than 1 to 6 Omega 3 to Omega 6) may lower the incidence of cancer and may even help those with cancer live longer than they would otherwise. EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) are two of the most important Omega-3s. Research suggests that EPA benefits the heart and circulatory system by promoting healthy blood triglycerides and blood flow. EPA also plays a role in the natural body movement of joints. Research evidence shows DHA is an important building block of the brain, nerves and eyes. DHA is the most highly unsaturated fatty acid found in nature. DHA supports normal mental function, optimal memory, focus and learning. In fetuses and infants, DHA is critical for brain and vision development. The average American diet contains less than 200 milligrams of the important Omega-3s EPA and DHA and the best scientific evidence says it should be at least 600 milligrams. Japan, England, and several European countries have set Recommended Daily Allowances for Omega-3s, but there are none in the U.S. yet. The best dietary source of DHA is found in fresh, cold-water fish, such as sardines, salmon, or tuna and in algae. Flaxseed oil can provide Omega-3 fatty acids. However, it only contains short chain polyunsaturated fatty acids. The body must convert these short chain fatty acids into the long chain EPA and DHA Omega-3s. The conversion isn't a very efficient process, and there are a number of lifestyle and diet factors which can prevent the body from converting adequate amounts. Only marine-sources can provide the long-chain Omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA you require directly. One teaspoon from a typical batch of our salmon oil supplies about 4650 milligrams of salmon oil, 1255 milligrams of omega 3 EFA's, 423 milligrams of DHA, 441 milligrams of EPA and 172 milligrams of DPA. Our salmon oil is preserved with 2mg of natural mixed tocopherols (vitamin E) per gm of oil, but we would recommend that it be refrigerated upon opening. Be careful of fish oil with claims of no vitamin E or some other preservative as fish oil can go rancid very quickly and cause sickness and a host of problems. We recommend feeding 1 - 2 teaspoons per 100 gms (3.5 oz) of food. Most 'salmon oil' capsules are not really salmon oil. Our salmon oil is pure salmon oil, with the fatty acid ratio found in wild salmon. Also, most of the commercially available fish oil comes from farmed salmon. To make them grow as well as their wild cousins and to prevent disease in their crowded quarters, farmed salmon are given hormones and antibiotics. Extruded fish food is made from animal and fish by-products and corn instead of live plankton, krill and algae that wild fish dine on. This affects the quality of those essential Omega-3 fatty acids we need for health. Wild fish, swimming in the deep, pristine Atlantic waters will contain high quality Omega-3 fatty acids, with no antibiotic or hormone residues. |
